Bridge Battle is played on a 12'x12' field divided diagonally by a triangular shaped bridge. This bridge is not just a field divider, it also serves as the game scoring rack. Segments of the bridge are labeled with alternating red and blue tape margins, indicating the different teams’ goals. Each alliance is composed of two teams each. The first twenty-seconds of a match is called the autonomous period. During this period, robots are operating based on a program. The following two minutes of the match is devoted to driver-controlled play. The primary scoring objects are regular tennis balls. There are a total of 77 tennis balls available for scoring: 61 balls already placed on the field, eight available to each alliance prior to a match, and three bonus balls on the field. The object of the game is to place as many tennis balls and bonus balls into goals. Each tennis ball scored in a goal is worth one point and each bonus ball scored in the goal is worth five points. The alliance who scores the most points during the autonomous period will receive a five point bonus. Furthermore, for each robot parked on the platform at the end of the match, five points will be given. |
