The McKinley Robotics Team acts as a mentoring team for Punahou School. This season is their Rookie year and they will be competing at the Las Vegas Regional. We invited the entire Punahou team to our school for a robotics demonstration of our past FIRST robots including two robots that have gone to the national competition. | |
| FIRST Robotics Demonstration at FIRST LEGO League | ||
| To inspire young students to continue higher education in robotics and engineering, we held a robotics demonstration at the FIRST LEGO League Regional held the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Students from elementary and middle schools from around the state got a chance to look at our robots close-up and ask questions about our team. | ![]() |

| SPARK Robotics Demonstration | ||

SPARK (Solving Problems And Reaching for Knowledge) is a program that exposes young, inspired students to robotics, engineering, technology, and science. SPARK students along with their parents came to a special robotics activity day put on by our team. They got a chance to see our FIRST robots in action and even got to build small robots themselves including a Mars Rover replica. | |
| Robotics Day Demo for Congressman Neil Ambercrombie's Representative | ||
| McKinley High School hosted a robotics demonstration for Congressman Neil Abercrombie's aide, Blaine Saito, to show the effect that these programs have had on the students that have participated. McKinley High School and Waialua High School presented the FIRST Robotics Competition; Punahou presented the FIRST Lego League and their VEX Robots; and Waipahu High School presented the Hawaii Underwater Robotics Challenge. | ![]() |

| Governor Linda Lingle's "Innovation Initiative" | ||

The McKinley Robotics Team was honored with an invitation to Governor Linda Lingle's proposal called, "Innovation Initiative" which outlines her plan to bring Hawaii's economy from land based to technology based. Our team was overwhelming overjoyed with the announcement that Hawaii was going to be hosting a FIRST Robotics Regional in March of 2008. | |
